Amplified mentor programme 2019
Following the success of the 2018 Photography Mentor Programme, Amplified Festival is pleased to announce that the 2019 scheme will be back and we have expanded into more areas.
This year we will be running mentorship opportunities for, not only photographers but also, interviewers, bloggers, film crew, drum-tech, guitar-tech and festival management.
Successful applicants will have the unbridled opportunity to work with, and learn skills from industry professionals for the whole festival weekend and will receive access to follow on resources.
We believe that the future of the music business lies in our young people and therefore we are aiming to give you a unique opportunity to work alongside us and gain valuable experience to help you with your future careers. During the festival, media mentees will have the opportunity to network with leading print and web based media outlets such as Powerplay Magazine, Down The Front Media and The Moshville Times, while crew mentees will work alongside some of the industry’s most experienced pros... and who knows where that may lead!
The programme is open to young people aged 14-18. You will be required to be accompanied by a responsible adult (parent or guardian). Camping and weekend tickets for family members will be provided.

Words from last years Mentees:
“One of the most amazing parts of the weekend was having a Mentor. Our “Festival Dad” as he was known. He went out of his way to make sure that we were okay, knew what we were doing, knew how to use a camera, had our ear protection in, and be our guide throughout the festival. If it wasn’t for him and Will, Delta and I would not have had the amazing chances that we got.I learned more in that weekend and it really helped me to pass my GCSE Photography Exam.
I was able to learn about how to use the camera in manual mode, which I have always been scared to use, and by Saturday afternoon I wouldn’t even switch back to auto. I was also shown the right way to edit my images to get the best potential out of them but to also make them my own. Delta and I were looked after so well at the festival too. Every time someone in the press team saw us they reminded us to eat and drink or take a break if we needed one”
Sian Irvine, Mentee 2018
“I learned a lot from our mentor, the three of us spent the whole weekend laughing, which is always good! I learnt a lot over the weekend that I didn’t know, like how to use ISO (no more panic attacks!) and how to use a 50mm manual focus lens and a fish-eye lens. We were always up and about photographing stuff, so the weekend was never boring, and to be honest, I couldn’t ask for a better mentor!
Everyone was like a giant family at Amplified too, which was nice to be a part of. Everybody was helping each other and making sure we were all okay and that we were having a good time, and some of my favourite memories are from being with the media crew, like the time everyone would get excited because a band was coming for a photoshoot in the Den of Doom and Topher would yell ‘Den of Doom’ as loud as he could, and when I was leaving, everyone came over and gave me hugs. It was really nice to be part of the Amplified family too. I was expecting to be stressed out all weekend, but I left with a huge smile on my face!”
Delta Hughes, Mentee 2018
Thanks to contacts made during the festival, both mentees have gone on to work as press photographers for online publications and both have been invited back to the festival this year to not only help with the new mentees but also take a full role in being a part of the Amplified Media Team.
